F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why Outsource your IT?

R. Money, Coverage, Skillset, Training, Completion – Is there any other answer?

Q. How much does a desktop support person really cost?

R. A permanent “desktop support” member of your staff will cost between $40k – $60k per year (excluding benefits). A good outsourcing company can supply more, and end up costing less.
Why? because they’ve put in place processes and systems focused on offering support services. They have far more resources available so your problems get resolved quicker.

Q. Why not make an onsite technical person oversee the department?

R. At times, an individual within a company takes on the I.T. support role. This is perceived as a cost effective solution. This is not only a poor use of the individual’s time but a common Band-Aid approach that costs the company more through downtime and future system instability. When problems occur outside the skill-set of this support person, they have an interest to learn and expand their knowledge. Unfortunately, this often means that they make the wrong decision when attempting to resolve a problem. Thus causing more downtime for the business and increasing the likelihood that a third-party will need to be brought in at additional cost, and a raised probability of data loss.

Q.”Why don’t I get my own support person and if they get stuck, give you a ring?”.

R. Good question. And sounds like a perfect solution, but what can often happen is the permanent person tries to fix a problem for which they have little knowledge and creates a more complicated problem, they then pass it to the outsourcing company informing them that nothing has been changed. Inevitably this takes longer to resolve, and the company ends up paying more than they would have if they’d outsourced everything.

R. Unfortunately, this often means that they make the wrong decision when attempting to resolve a problem, causing more downtime for the business, the likelihood that a third-party will need to be brought in at additional cost, and a raised probability of data loss.
